Illinois 103rd District

The Illinois 103rd State Congressional District covers most of the Champaign-Urbana metropolitan area and resides entirely in Champaign County. Over 100,000 people reside in the district, including a large student population attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and Parkland College. The median age is 24.8 years old. Roughly 55% of the district identifies as White, 19% as Black, 14% as Asian, and 7% as Hispanic. 12% of families in the district fall under the federal poverty line. The area is home to many corporate offices, including the headquarters of Jimmy John’s and Wolfram Research, as well as UIUC’s Research Park. Urbana-Champaign has a rich cultural tradition in music and the arts, being the home of movie critic Roger Ebert, writer David Foster Wallace, musician Ludacris, and writer Iris Chang.
