Illinois Legislative Black Caucus

Each year, the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation hosts its Annual Black History Month Soirée, celebrating the legacy and achievements of African American leaders whose contributions have made a lasting impact on our communities and our state. This year’s event was held in Springfield at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, bringing together leaders, advocates, and community members to honor the legacy and impact of African American trailblazers while highlighting the life and enduring contributions of Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr.

About the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (ILBCF)

Established in 2002, the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation is dedicated to advancing and empowering Black communities across Illinois through education, advocacy, civic engagement, scholarships, leadership development, and public policy initiatives. Working alongside the Illinois Legislative Black Caucus, the Foundation promotes equitable representation and addresses critical issues including education, economic development, healthcare, and social justice.

The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (ILBCF) is offering educational scholarship opportunities to high school seniors and undergraduate students who will continue their education at a two or four-year institution in Fall 2026.

The Illinois Legislative Black Caucus Foundation was incorporated in 2002 with a purpose to serve as a communication link between the Illinois Black Caucus and the African American community.  Our goal is to provide educational resources and financial opportunities for African American students throughout the State of Illinois.  To date, we have successfully awarded over $2,000,000 in scholarship support to deserving students since our inception!

It is through an educated and dedicated populous that we are able to build a community that has a quality of life in which all of us would be proud to call home. ILBCF believes in order for communities to prosper and grow we must have an educated population that will promote social responsibility.

We hope that our scholarship recipients will pay it forward through their committed efforts with civic engagement, their careers and dedication to society.

Scholarship Applications are being accepted through May 31, 2026.
