1.6 Million Illinois Households Will Benefit From the Earned Income Tax Credit Expansion

Thanks to the hard work of Representative Carol Ammons and others, the Earned Income Credit (EIC) for Illinois residents was expanded. 1.6 million households will benefit, including a half-million families that will be eligible for the EIC for the first time. Approximately 44% of all Black households and 65% of Latino households in Illinois could be eligible for the earned income tax credit.
